Growing

“Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way, He leads the humble in justice, He teaches the humble His way.” Psalm 25:8-9

It was so easy to quickly read these words this morning during my time with the Lord. However, reading it again, I was particularly impressed by the words “instructs… leads… teaches.” It reminds me there is a process as I grow in the Lord. We don’t just wake up one morning and find ourselves spiritually mature. Whatever the circumstances God purposes for me to experience, as simple or difficult as they might be, I look back and realize how much I not only learned about the Lord, but how much He showed me about myself. There is lots of growing to be done and God is always at work!

Paul said in Phil 4:11 that he experienced this “process” by saying “…I have learned to be content…” We grow each day as we walk with the Lord. Peter said “…but grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” II Peter 3:18. May we never stop growing in the Lord. I love the next verse, Psalm 25:10 “All the paths of the Lord are lovingkindness and truth to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.” I know as I’m obedient to the Lord's leading, His lovingkindness and truth will always be there to help me grow.

Father, help me to never get in the way of Your “process” as you grow me as I walk with You.
