Impatience

Word of the Day

“…this Moses…..we do not know what has become of him.” Exodus 32:1

When Moses hadn’t returned from the mountain after being with God, the people were becoming fearful and concerned something had happened to him. They wanted Aaron to have God do something. Once again they weren’t trusting God and became impatient; they wanted something done now! Impatience can cause us to do things that we generally wouldn’t do. As for the Israelites, they completely yielded to the pagan way of worship by making a golden calf. There is no excuse for it, it was sin.

It’s really the same thing for us. We can become impatient with the Lord, there is no excuse for it, and it is sin. Perhaps the key for us is to recognize our impatience or anxiousness early, and to do something about it. I like what Psalm 94:19 says; “When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.” What we can do is read God’s Word. It will provide what is necessary for training us in godly living. 2Timothy 3:16,17 says “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Oh God remind me Your Word is always near. I ask that you would cause my soul to delight in It.
