Listening

Pray

“He who gives an answer before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.” Proverbs 18:13

Communications in a marriage relationship is listed as one of the top reasons for divorce. Whenever we ask the Young Marrieds class what topics they would like to study, the answer usually includes communication. I realize there is much said and written about this topic, so I really don’t expect to resolve the whole communication problem by writing this small paragraph. However, having said that, Proverbs 18:13 is a great place to start. When we are having a “discussion” with our spouse, don’t interrupt, and listen. Yes, I know, it’s easy to say and hard to do, however, we still have to do it and that’s the challenge. Let’s start a good communication skill and follow the wisdom in this verse; listen and then give an answer.

Father I pray that you would develop in me to have a more listening heart.

Dedicated to Prayer,
