Marriage 5

Word of the Day

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Guys: I’m sure everyone knows these verses….we as followers of Jesus are called to pray! Since our theme is marriage this week, we must talk about prayer. Honestly, I don’t think anything can make our marriage more rich and complete than husbands spending time praying for their brides. I am not talking just a quick “bless her and help her” kind of prayer (even though there’s nothing exactly wrong with that), but I am talking about getting up a few minutes earlier each morning, and praying for her day. This is a sacrifice for us, but, maybe is part of what Paul meant in Eph 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also love the church….” This is what it might look like….ask your wife before you go to bed what she is doing the next day. When you get up, pray specifically for what she told you. During the day call her if you can, and see how God has answered your prayer. I’m convinced if all of us men would spend just 3-5 minutes daily praying for our wives, we would be amazed how our marriage relationships would grow.

Father, please give us the kind of heart that loves enough to lift our wives up daily in prayer.

Ladies: This is a serious subject. To be honest I’m thankful that I’m the wife and don’t have the heavy leadership responsibilities before God that husbands do. I can’t think of a more important and powerful way to support our husbands than prayer. What could be better than bringing our husbands before the Lord each morning and asking God to walk with them, protect them, give them wisdom when they need it….give them opportunities to share Jesus that day. It’s kind of funny because I usually don’t have to ask Dave what his day looks like for tomorrow, because thorough out normal conversation I’ve already checked that out and know. I think it could be a girl thing. LOL!! There are so many “helps” out there for how to pray for your husband. Pinterest is full of them! Great ideas all of them. The most important thing is that we do it. I want to cover Dave with prayer so I don’t need to worry about him and that’s just what the verse tells us. Maybe this is part of meaning in Genesis 2:18 “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”

Father, will You help us as wives to have a desire to pray for our husbands? Thank You that You listen to our needs. Thank You that by praying You change me. Thank You that by praying you give the peace that no one can understand.

Dedicated to Prayer,

Dave and Diana
