Mary DID know!

Word of the Day

"And Mary said: My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for the Mighty One has done great things for me - Holy is His name." (Luke 1:46-47, 49)

Try to picture Mary's situation in today's terms or your life directly. We are really busy living moment by moment; kids to school, kids to practice, appointments, work duties, social engagements, housework, laundry, time with our spouse, (I could go on and on and on......)

We tend to see God at work in our lives in the moment, almost like a "drive by blessing". We'll see that God caused a quick situation to grow us or involve us with someone else, but often our experience is fleeting. We sometimes fail to see the long term.

Mary had nine plus months to get ready for and get used to the idea that God was doing something Great in her life. She had time to ponder the great of it and the negative (social) of it. She had time to pray about it, fret about it, and feel His peace about it. The verse from Luke above says she rejoiced in God and worshipped him - Holy is His name.

So for me during this busy holiday season, I'm praying I'll notice the long term. That I'll respond to the slow, careful work of His Spirit in me. I'll be consistent in my quiet time in the Word each morning so I don't miss His still small voice!

And to answer the christmas song "Mary did you know?" - I think Yes!
