Tears in a Bottle?

stayConnected

When was the last time you cried out to God? I mean literal crying with actual tears. I'll be honest up front. I'm a crier. I'm not saying this is good or bad. Some would probably say it makes me less of a man and some would say it's good for a dude to cry every now and then. David said in Psalm 30:2 "O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me." Was this literal crying or was he just voicing his urgency to the LORD? I'm not really sure, but I have a hunch that David was literally crying tears of anguish to the LORD. This morning I read this verse in Psalm 56:8 "You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?" How personal is that? Can you imagine that? Someone loving you so much that they keep track of every time you toss in bed because you are overwhelmed at the events of the day gone by or the day ahead. Someone keeping your tears in a bottle and writing down everything that is burdening you? I have a hard time believing it so I'm real glad that God wrote it down so I have to believe it. Aren't there times when you just wish there was someone who knew what you were going through? Not to even fix it, but just to understand and notice? It's pretty amazing to me and unbelievably comforting that my God knows. He doesn't dismiss my thoughts as silly or unmanly. He really does care and I really am important to him. Whether you are a literal crier or not, God wants all of us to cry out to Him and "cast our burdens" on Him. You might want to try the actual crying though. David obviously cried and he killed lions, bears, Goliath, and like 10,000 Philistines so you can be a tough guy and cry too.
