We do not lose heart

I love being in God's word in the early morning, before I start my day. Nothing sets my mind and heart better than encouragement from Him and the men and women of the bible that came before me. I can't tell you how many times a passage that I read in the morning actually applies to my life later that very same day!

Today is no different as I start another new assignment at work. I feel like I've been tossed around a bit this year, wondering where I'll land and what the point of it is. Once my flesh is done complaining and worrying, I settle down knowing that God is in control and orchestrating this things in my life for my good and His GLORY.

It was so good to open my bible this morning and read Paul's words in 2 Corinthians, "Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."

My light affliction today is just that; light. Yours might feel not so light. Mine is work related, yours might be physical or relational. But eternally speaking, our afflictions are light and temporary and "for a moment". My prayer today, for you and I, is that we focus on living for the eternal and not the temporary.

Have a great day!
