Win Their Trust

Pray

I came to the exiles …..and I sat there seven days where they were living….” Ezekiel 3:15

Sometimes there are opportunities, situations or downright uncomfortable experiences in which the Lord ordains in our lives. Ezekiel had one of those opportunities as the Lord directed him to prophesy among his people who cared very little about anything from God. Ezekiel’s ultimate goal was to tell the people about the Lord but notice in verse 15 it says”…I sat there seven days where they were living…” He lived amongst the people and as one commentary said Ezekiel identified with their suffering. His goal in doing this was to try and win their trust for when he spoke God’s Word.

Many of us think we have to go to the people and start preaching the gospel right away. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and there are many who seem to have a gift of teaching and evangelism and have no issue with sharing the gospel immediately. However, we can also learn from Ezekiel by getting involved in people’s lives…living the gospel out through caring actions as well as words. For Ezekiel it was a seven day period and then 3:16-17 says “…the Word of The Lord came to me…, warn them from Me.” God will always lead us to situations where we can share His Word.

Father, live through me and help me to reflect Jesus. Show me how to really care for those around me and take time to get involved personally by my actions and in my words.
