Word of the Day: Acts 16:30

Word of the Day

"And after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Acts 16:30

We never know how our actions and words will be used by the Lord. I wonder if Paul or Silas thought that the jailer, who had no feeling toward prisoners, would be the one God would cause to be effected by them. The jailer threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. That was a very painful and agonizing experience. Yet later this cold-harsh-mean jailer fell down before Paul and Silas and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" We never know who God will move to come to Him.

It brings to mind a guy I worked with many years ago in Washington State. We had dinner with him and his wife a couple of times, but really didn't know them very well. I tried to tell him about Jesus but rarely talked with her. They made it pretty clear they weren't interested. It was shortly after that they moved out of state and I moved on to another company. One day I received a call at my office and it was her. She started the conversation out with "I thought you and Diana would like to know…I've become a Christian". We were surprised and so excited that she called and let us know!

"….Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." I Peter 3:15
