Word of the Day: Acts 26: 1, 29

Armor of God

Agrippa said to Paul, "You are permitted to speak for yourself." Then Paul stretched out his hand and proceeded to make his defense: ………. And Paul said, "I would wish to God, that whether in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these chains." Acts 26: 1, 29

The scene in Acts 26 is the courtroom of King Agrippa and of course this includes all the pomp that goes with presence of royalty. Paul is in the courtroom as a result of many accusations from the Jewish people regarding his teaching about Jesus. When Paul enters the room, he stands in front of this great audience and King Agrippa says to Paul, "You are permitted to speak for yourself." He shared the hope of the Gospel, that Jesus fulfilled by His death and resurrection. Paul then followed-up with his personal testimony. He told of his past and the change that took place when he met Jesus. This reminded me once again and I know we say and hear it a lot, "Am I ready to share my faith, the hope that is in me? This is a great example of how God helps us to be able to share. Paul started with the gospel and then made it even more personal by sharing how Jesus changed his life. In Luke 21, Jesus talks about the later days and he reminds the disciples that in the midst of persecution, "…It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony." The question is for me, am I looking for opportunities to share my testimony? Am I ready to share the hope that is in me?

Oh Father, please cause me to keep watch; give me opportunities to share with people how I met Jesus.
