Word of the Day: Deuteronomy 31:8

Word of the Day

Deuteronomy 31:8

"The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you".

In Chapter 31 the Israelites are getting ready to cross the Jordan. They were going to have to face some adversaries. They are changing leadership. Moses is giving his last counsel and has just announced that he is getting old and will not be going with them. The people needed to hear his encouragement. Moses reminded them about the character of God. He said "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you, He will not fail you or forsake you."

Have you ever been in a difficult situation or stressful circumstance? Dumb question? Everyone has! Maybe you have been seeking God for a solution to a problem, or even seeking God for direction. That can be stressful!! Maybe God has shown you which way you need to go, but taking that step of faith is so difficult. I was reminded this morning that the answer for me is to dwell on God and His character. In any situation, whether we are crossing the Jordan, waiting for an answer, taking a step of faith in obedience, we can rest in our amazing God. He is our Peace. He is our Shepherd. He is with us. He is our Provider. I can go on and on. The bottom line is we can trust our God because not only does He go ahead of us, He stays with us.

Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. (Philippians 4:4-6 The Message).

Lord, help me to trust you, rest in You and know You more.
