Word of the Day: Isaiah 21

Word of the Day

Reading: Isaiah 21

'Watchman, be Alert!'

For thus the Lord says to me, "Go, station the lookout, and let him report what he sees."When he sees riders, horsemen in pairs, a train of donkeys, a train of camels, Let him pay close attention, very close attention." Then the lookout called, "O Lord, I stand continually by day on the watchtower, and I am stationed every night at my guard post. "Now behold, here comes a troop of riders, horsemen in pairs." And one said, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the images of her gods are shattered on the ground." O my threshed people and my afflicted of the threshing floor! What I have heard from the Lord of hosts, The God of Israel, I make known to you. Isaiah 21:6-10

We, as a people of God, need to have a watchful eye in this day and heed the warning to the watchman of the past, "pay close attention, very close attention". God was about to destroy Babylon, because of her images and false gods. Awesome fear must have struck the man on the watchtower, as he witnessed the swiftness of troops rapidly coming has way. God's judgment was announced in advance. As in the past, God has announced to us that He will come again. Let us all, as the watchmen before us, intently watch and be alert that we may be prepared for that glorious day.

O Lord, that I might live my life by the minute;
Knowing that you will come one day unannounced at the twinkling of an eye.
May you find my life pleasing to You….Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
