Word of the Day: Isaiah 55:9

Word of the Day

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher
than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9

I don't know about you but sometimes God feels so distant, so far away, so not there. Circumstances can seem so insurmountable, so beyond human understanding. We emotionally translate that into "God doesn't care about me, He's abandoned me." Feelings often betray the reality that's available to us as Jesus followers.

What feels like distance and disinterest is actually the simple difference between God and us humans. We are so quick to humanize God expecting Him to think like we think, plan like we would plan, respond like we would respond...one BIG problem...He's God and we're not! He's the One who has no beginning; has created everything from nothing with only a few words; never gets tired, and yet He's everywhere at the same time (omnipresent) and knows everything (omniscient) about everything. And He loves us more than we can ever understand.

So many at our little church are hurting so badly. Let's agree together to do something as a church. Let's agree to seek God and ask Him to remind us to thank Him for our circumstances every time we're overwhelmed. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Paul said, "pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is Gods' will for you in Christ Jesus." We can thank Him because we know His plan and ways are higher than ours and He's actually using our circumstances to make us more like Jesus.

Let's also remember that every time He feels distant and disinterested we have a perspective problem. We're probably not remembering His nature and character. We only have to consider the
cross to remember God could not love us any more than He does and He'll never love us any less.

"Father thank You that you work in our lives so mysteriously but yet so intentionally. Father I forget so easily that you are so far above us and working so differently then I would. Please make me a thankful man knowing You do all things well. Thank You so much for Jesus! In His name, the Name above every name, Amen!"
