Word of the Day

Reading: John 1:43-51

'No Deceit! Please'

"Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him,

"Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!"

During this time, common conversations among the Jewish people were focused on the arrival of the promise, "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL", which translated means, "GOD WITH US." (Matt 1:21-24) ". All this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophets. In such a conversation, Philip tells Nathanael that "Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph", is this One that has been promised. I can see it now, Nathanael saying, "Right Philip, can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Nathanael certainly doesn't hold back his strong opinion, but if you think about it he was being totally honest. But, his opinions didn't keep him from seeking the truth and at Philips invitation to, 'Come and see', he went to see this man they called Jesus. Jesus knew Nathanael's heart…. "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!"

Whether at home, at work, at play, in business, in church….

When you see me coming Lord, my desire is that you can say,

'Here comes a man in whom there is "no deceit".
