Word of the Day: Luke 21:34
"But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap."
Luke 21:34
This life seems to carry a constant stream of things that can weigh me down and allow me to lose perspective. When I heard this verse from the Lord, what struck me was the 'cares of this life.' How often do I ponder the return on my investment of time/money with eternity in mind? Hardly ever. In fact, it seems that so often I am looking for the quickest payback on my investment that anything longer than 5 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day seems like forever.
"Lord, cause me to focus on eternity. Lord, help me to move forward in the power of your Holy Spirit so that I will not be weighed down by the cares of this life. Lord, I pray that I would seek first your kingdom everyday as an overflow of my life. Lord, cause me to be ready for your return, excited to give you an account for how I have been stewarding the resources that you have entrusted to me."
Blessings,
Rob
