Word of the Day: Matthew 20:20-28
Reading: Matthew 20:20-28
'So You Want to be First'
"Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him. And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to Him, "Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left."
There is just something about all human nature. It desires power, fame and special privileges. This mother was no different than any of us. She wanted a special place of position for her two sons. Jesus, knowing the condition of mankind; went straight to the heart of matter saying, "Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be a servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave". Our proper focus and our walk with Christ should be one of servant hood. We should no longer be controlled by those former desires. If we truly believe that Jesus is the Lord of our life, then we are His servants, but even more than that, His love slaves.
Dear Lord, let me become indignant; Not with others who desire to be first, to be the best, to be important and noticed.
But instead, when this sin rears its ugly head in my life.
