Word of the Day: Psalm 51:2-3
Psalm 51:2-3
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. And cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
Confession
After David's adultery, his planned murder and his efforts to hide the truth and chloroform his conscience, Nathan came and confronted him (2 Samuel 12:1-14). Once David faced his guilt, evil, sin and shame, he called on the Lord's mercy, love and compassion (verses 2-3 above). When we do what God forbids and are guilty before God , feeling guilty and ashamed is an appropriate response. Time to seek forgiveness.
I don't expect a prophet to show up at my front door with a message. Unlike David, the Spirit lives in me and, though the Word of God, works to clean up my conscience. And when I sin, I can go directly to God and follow His instructions, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:9).
A thought to start out a new day.
Blessings,
Tony
