Word of the Day: Psalm 57:7-8

Word of the Day

Psalm 57:7-8

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.

Awaken the Dawn

I think David, the poet-king, was the greatest worship leader of the Old Testament. He wrote half of the of the Psalms ( 75 of 150), sang all his songs, chose all his choirmasters and led all his processions. And, this was before Israel had any building that they could enter for worship. Solomon built the temple, not David.

What drives David's impulse to worship God in this way? Verse 9 says, "I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will give thanks to You among the nations." Can it be his confident hope that God will fulfill His purpose in him?

Fulfill Your purpose through me, Lord, so I, like David, am compelled to hail You on the streets of West Valley and wherever I go?.

Blessings,

Tony
