Word of the Day: Psalm 90:10
Psalm 90:10
As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years, yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away.
Reflections
A psalm of Moses. I wonder when he wrote the words in verse 10 if he was thinking about the conversation he had with God at the burning bush. Was he thinking, "Why now, when I'm 80?" Look how much strength the body loses between 70 and 80? Is it ever too late for anyone to be called to a special ministry?
Moses also penned verse 12, "So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom". A great clue that he learned this lesson ... serving God with vigor for 40 years until he was 120.
So, how did it turn out ... what is the end of the story? Check out Deuteronomy Chapter 34. I offer verse 7, "Although Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, his eye was not dim, nor his vigor abated".
Something for me to chew on. Anyone else?
Blessings,
Tony
