Word of the Day: Romans 2:3-4

Word of the Day

Romans 2:3 Do you suppose, O man - you who judge those who do such things and yet do them yourself - that you will escape the judgement of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

What annoys you? What things do people do or what type of person just drives you crazy? What type of thing do you have perfect Biblical justification for and yet people do it anyway? Is it democrats or republicans or anything those parties might stand for or types of people that support those parties? Or is it somebodies behavior or something they do? Do we, as a Bible believing, Bible following, follower of Jesus really know any better? Or do we do the same things these people do but maybe in different or more subtle ways? We would do well to first examine ourselves when we come across someone who stands for or behaves in a way that just drives us crazy. Not that those things or behaviors are not sin and just plain wrong, but we need to consider the great kindness, forbearance and patience God has shown us before we ever get angry at another person for what the do or who they are. Only than we can consider confronting this other person in their sin with the same kindness, forbearance and patience that God showed us in order to lead us to repentance. If we ever expect to change others or the world we must stop drawing lines between us and those who "do such things" that just drive us crazy. From our perspective, right now, we are all experiencing "the riches of God's kindness and forbearance and patience." For "they" are sinners just like we were and are. We should give nothing less to "those who do such things" as we confront their sin in an effort to lead them to repentance.
